What recent guests emphasize

Comfortable stay with great location but limited service

Guests appreciate the convenient access to the Swamp Rabbit Trail and Travelers Rest downtown, along with cozy accommodations and communal spaces. However, the lack of on-site staff and shared bathroom setups are important considerations. The property suits travelers looking for relaxed, self-guided lodging near outdoor activities.

Guests often praise

  • Excellent location across from the popular Swamp Rabbit Trail and close to downtown Travelers Rest.
  • Cozy, clean rooms with bright interiors and wood floors.
  • Common areas including a full kitchen, pool, and outdoor porch with seating.
  • The relaxed, homey atmosphere with pet- and kid-friendly amenities.
  • Flexibility and space when booking the entire inn for groups or events.

Worth knowing

  • Accommodation operates on a self-check-in basis with limited or no on-site staff, which can be challenging for late arrivals or issues.
  • Shared bathrooms are present in some rooms, so checking room details before booking is advised.
  • The pool is small and can occasionally require maintenance due to outdoor debris.
  • Signage at the property is minimal and can be hard to spot at first approach.
  • Breakfast is limited to prepackaged snacks rather than a traditional B&B meal service.

Best for

  • Cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts wanting immediate access to biking and hiking trails.
  • Groups or families looking for a homelike setting with shared spaces and kitchen facilities.
  • Visitors to Furman University or Travelers Rest who prefer a laid-back atmosphere over hotel-style services.
  • Guests with pets or children, thanks to the pet- and kid-friendly policies.
  • Travelers comfortable with minimal on-site assistance and self-guided stays.

We keep coming back to this place, because we enjoy the town of Travelers Rest, the access to the Swamp Rabbit Trail, the pool and the ability to cook our own meals. The rooms are cozy. Our only complaint was that we didn't notice we'd have the shared bathroom on this particular stay, but that was our own oversight.

Very nice converted house. Nice to have a kitchen. No on-premise service so you have to follow some lengthy instructions you receive in email. Only nit is there only a very small sign at the road. I drove by it twice and still wasn't sure I was at the right place. Need a better, possibly lit sign.

It was OK. The location is great if you want to go downtown Travelers Rest or bike the Swamp Rabbit Trail. I did not care for the absentee host. It is advertised as a B & B but the second B was only prepackaged snack food. Would have preferred a host cooking a meal. Pool needed a cleaning to fish out the leaf litter. Gazebo was an absolute mess. Room and bath were clean but I am not a fan of tempurpedic beds. They always make me hot. The available bikes were in a state of disrepair. Glad we brought our own.

We really enjoyed our stay here! It was just for one night, but everything was quite nice. We were told by the host, who was there when we arrived, that the room on the top floor with us was also occupied, but we never saw or heard anyone. Two rooms on the bottom were occupied but we heard no noise from anyone. There is some traffic noise from the road, but nothing that kept us from sleeping. Kitchen was convenient although we did not cook, only had coffee there, and the breakfast items were appreciated. Most of the negative reviews I saw had to do with access codes not working and not being able to get help if it was a late check-in, but we had no problems. We did not have time to bike, but would like to come back one day and try the SW Trail, which is right across the street. We had a really excellent beer at the SW Brewery, and a very good dinner at Sushi Yama.

We thought this place was fantastic. As other reviews mention, don’t expect any “service”. You let yourself in (ha, ha - pun) and out. And we had no issues with either. The common rooms are nicely done, there is a full kitchen along with a sizable dining table and a separate living/tv room. We were the only ones there this trip, but I think it would be pretty pleasant to share with others. There were various snacks and breakfast items. My private room was very nice/ pretty large and bright. King sized bed was comfortable. The bathroom was tight but certainly functional. The pool is small but it was clean and a nice bonus. The front porch had several rockers and a daybed for hanging in the evening. Most important, the place just had a good feel to it. I dug it. I felt relaxed and comfortable. And that’s not always easy to find. Goodbye Greenville! From now on, Swamp Rabbit Inn will be at the top of our list when we visit Furman .

We mentioned to Debi, our wedding coordinator, about wanting to have everyone together in one house before and after the ceremony, she suggested Swamp Rabbit Inn. We said: sure, why not? Glad we did! Let me expand: We booked the entire inn for two nights. 14 people stayed there very comfortably. Lots of room to hang out and spend time together but also have the privacy. Rooms are clean and well maintained. We cooked two meal in the inn, one with the grill one with the oven. All equipments were functional and clean. So much good memories! Other Thoughts: Since there’s no one at the inn the day before our reservation, Pam let us check in at 10 am. She also maximize our time when we check out as well. My experience is not based on the extra time we spent there, but the attitude that she WANTS guests to have the most time there, which is rare and amazing. Bottom Line: Highly recommend to book an entire inn for event! Thank you Pam, Debi and the rest of the team.

This place is extremely comfortable and charming. Terrific location across the street from the Swamp Rabbit Trail and walking distance from downtown TR. I’ve stayed twice now and this will be my regular vacation destination. Ride your bike all day and relax by the pool when finished. I stay in the main house Magnolia room so the kitchen is convenient and I have a door to the pool. Couldn’t ask for more.

So much has changed in TR. We absolutely loved the location. Ride or walk the trail and access to great food and drinks in less than 200 yards from our room. The Swamp Rabbit Inn was perfect for us. So comfortable and welcoming.
